Did you know our church is in a partnership with Family Promise? Family Promise is an organization that mobilizes existing community resources and hundreds of volunteers to bring shelter, meals and comprehensive support services to families without homes. Family Promise of Knoxville’s core program is the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN). What this commitment means to us is that we will host these families five times in 2010.
Did you know that our church recently hosted our first IHN guests for the year, the week of January 3? We had two single mothers with three children each. The week went very well. We had 67 volunteers giving approximately 325 hours of loving service. Our next scheduled week will be March 28 – April 4.
This is a wonderful way to serve on a mission project right here at our own church. Any talent or time you can share makes a difference in changing the lives of our guests and helps them become self-sufficient. Together we can make a difference – one family at a time. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Don Hanshew, ext 110 or Susan Schumpert at 687-4000.
