Holston Annual Conference Convenes on Sunday, June 14

Under the theme of “Offer Them Christ,” and beginning Sunday evening, June 14, members of the Holston Annual Conference will gather at Lake Junaluska to begin our annual session of business, worship and Bible study. The session will conclude on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, with the fixing of the pastoral appointments for the Conference’s 900+ churches. The lead speaker and preacher will be the Rev. Adam Hamilton, founding pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas.

Rev. Hamilton was named Distinguished Evangelist of the United Methodist Church by the Foundation for Evangelism. The church he serves has grown from four people in 1990 to over 12,000 adult members, with an average weekly worship attendance of more than 7,500. We look forward to his leadership.

There are 17 people from FCUMC who will be voting members of our Conference. Our church’s members to the Conference are Alta Huskey, Carol Lytle and Brennan Smith. There are other laity who represent the district and Conference in various ways as well as our pastors and other clergy who are related to our church.

A schedule for the week is available in the church office. Please be in prayer for the Conference so that all members of the Conference can return to our churches more ready and eager than ever to “Offer Them Christ.”
