Fourteen sixth-graders of FCUMC have participated in this year’s Confirmation Class. These youth have spent the last nine months being challenged to claim the name of Jesus, and their experiences have included: attending a Confirmation kick-off party here at the church; weekly Sunday School classes taught by Jenny Fowler, Doug Shipman, Terri Goodin, Mary Bolton, Joyce Sterling, Andrew Duncan, Coop and the pastors; worshipping with the Jewish Congregation of Temple Beth El and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; memorizing scripture; attending Confirmation Mega weekend at Lake Junaluska; being prayed for by a “secret” prayer partner the last nine months; participating in youth group activities; meeting individually with one of the pastors.
Many of these youth will be baptized, confirmed, and join the church this Sunday, May 17, at 5:00 p.m. during a special Confirmation service in the Sanctuary. Please plan to be present as we reaffirm our faith and welcome these new members of Christ’s Holy Church and FCUMC.
The 2008-2009 Confirmands are: Lauren Bock, Alea Coble, Kristen Cox, Nikki Earney, Tyler Edwards, Jacob Fowler, Andy Hillhouse, Johnny Morgan, Riley Patton, Anna Ripley, Jake Seiber, Alex Shipman, Rachel Shipman, and Ben Smith.
