The Pastor Cornered – April 1, 2009

Who could deny it?
There I stood one evening last week as the sun was beginning to set, looking at the work of God, as the daffodils and tulips, coming to life, after a winter of resting in the ground.

Who could deny it?
There I stood one afternoon in the hospital room, looking at the work of God, holding little Rhett Daniel Kilday, now having come forth to life, after having resting in his mother for some nine months.

Who could deny it?
Who could deny the work of God in either of those situations as new life came to be? Not a chance that it was by accident that these miracles took place. Not a chance that some accident occurred that could create such beauty as each of these! Not a chance!

Who could deny it?
Here we are slightly more than a week away from the greatest festival day of the Christian faith as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Not a chance that a hoax has been perpetrated on the world that would have lasted this long! For sure, www.snopes.com would have “outed” it by now if that had been the case.

With the reality of this occurrence staring us in the face, I hope we will not allow ourselves to ignore the brutal reality of the week that preceded this earth-shattering event. Not a chance that Jesus went straight from Palm Sunday to walking out of the grave without having endured the cruelty of human hands.

How can we ignore it?
Well, we can; but Easter will shine brighter and its message will resonate in our hearts greater if we will travel with Jesus through the events of Thursday and Friday.

I hope you and your family will worship with us, if you are physically able, on those two evenings. The information for these services is available here. Let us come together as God’s people for these worship opportunities.
