Mending
Posted on August 22nd, 2008
We all have emotional, spiritual and physical hurts. Oftentimes we try to hide them. At other times we let those who are close to us understand our wounds and know how we feel. These hurts frequently make us weary and at times have broken our spirit. In keeping with the theme of Inside Out: Making more and building better disciples by reaching, teaching, mending, and sending in the name of Jesus, this coming Sunday our services will be focused on “mending.” There is hope, wholeness, and strength when we have a relationship with Jesus. Jesus provides a road to a new fulfillment and a power to overcome. Where do you see the need for hope and mending in others? In yourself?
At times our hurts can be challenging in their scope and severity. Healing does not always come as we would want. Having the faith to learn to live with something that does not change is made possible through a faith in Jesus that reminds us that we are not broken. We are all flawed and imperfect, and yet we are all still chosen by God. Jesus wants to walk with us, strengthen us, and heal us from our deepest hurts. Through faith and divine mystery, our experiences can even become a source of hope and inspiration to others. You are not alone in your suffering unless you choose to be. We have specific ministries where we as the church, the body of Christ, want to walk with you on this road of healing and wholeness. Let us all remember that in God’s time all things are made beautiful.
