For the next two years the mission focus of our Holston Conference will be Sudan. This is an exciting, and unprecedented, move. Many of you have heard Don Hanshew talk about his passion to make a difference in Sudan and have asked how you can become involved. The most important way to get involved is to pray. The second, and almost equally important way, is to get informed. Thirdly, is to give of your financial resources and time in leadership and advocacy.
With this in mind, you are invited to participate in the first Holston Conference Sudan Summit, Friday, June 20, 1:00 p.m. through noon on Saturday, June 21, at the Terrace Hotel, Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. The registration cost is $35 per person, in addition to rooming expenses.
This important meeting related to the work of the United Methodist Church among the people of Southern Sudan will include Bishop Daniel Wandabula and other representatives of the East Africa Annual Conference, as well as persons representing the General Board of Global Ministries. Those interested in attending will carpool from the church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20.
The registration form is here, and is also available in the church office. The registration deadline is June 13. Contact Don Hanshew at 689-5175 if you have further questions. We hope you will come as we pray for progress in our mutual quest for peace and care for all God’s children.
Note: If you will be attending the UMVIM Connect event, you may join us by extending your stay for one day.
