Special Offering For Sudan Sunday June 1

Individually, we may question how large of an impact we can have on the world, but when we put 910 Holston Conference churches together in spreading the Good News to Sudan the possibilities are astonishing! This Sunday we will be taking a Holston Conference Special offering to support our work ongoing in Sudan. This year the Conference has a giving goal of $125,000. These offerings will be brought to Annual Conference in response.

After 22 years of war, a comprehensive peace agreement was signed between northern and southern Sudan. Surviving Sudanese began to move back into south Sudan, joining those who remained behind, and together they began building back villages and putting their lives back together. Surviving also was a small group of United Methodists in southern Sudan in and around the town of Yei. These survivors began the process of providing worship experiences and education for the children and nurturing the many children orphaned because of war and HIV/AIDS.

Your gift will have a significant impact on the lives of many children and families in Southern Sudan. Please prayerfully consider how you can give to this special offering and mark your offering “Sudan.” Speak with Don Hanshew if you would like more information or visit the Holston Conference Web site at: missions.holston.org.
